Hello beautiful people!

Sooooo much has happened since my last podcast, both personally, and in the world around us. Since September 2019, when I talked about the stress of new beginnings, my own family was hit with some unexpected medical issues.

My husband had to be treated with radiation for thyroid cancer. Although we were both petrified of the possible negative side effects of radiation, he handled it beautifully and subsequently received a clean bill of health.

In the midst of his treatment, my stomach issues returned with a vengeance. I found myself in the ER 5 times, and had to stay overnight on one occasion. These flare-ups had a compound effect, which led to repeat infections that my body could no longer recover from.

In December 2019 I was faced with the reality that I needed to finally have surgery. I had been dreading this possibility since October 2016 when I was first diagnosed with this condition. Thankfully, my surgery was successful, and I emerged without any complications.

As part of my recouperation I was directed to walk often, which I did multiple times daily. I have continued this routine as the months passed, and it has become a daily self-care practice that I am grateful for, particularly in light of what 2020 brought to the world.

Which leads me to what we’re facing now as a global community.

To some degree, we are all coping with the impact of COVID 19. Many many people around the world have been sick due to this virus. Some people have unfortunately lost loved ones, and are grieving this unexpected and tragic loss. Others have their jobs, their homes, their social connections. Many parents are home with their kids, and have spent the last year navigating the challenges of homeschooling. And although many of us have received vaccines and are slowly returning to some semblance of normalcy, that new normal is still very different for some people.

As a mom of 2, both under the age of 10, I can tell you that the past year has not been easy! Navigating working from home, while homeschooling my kiddos, has been one of the most challenging experiences of my life! Which is why I have been so profoundly grateful for the steps that I have taken to integrate a self-care plan into my day to day living.

I will be sharing about this self-care plan, and talking about all other things related to mommyhood, mindfulness, wellness, and well-being in my upcoming blogs, podcasts and recordings. I am very much looking forward to sharing my knowledge and experiences with you all, and hope that you find this information both meaningful and useful for your own lives.

For now, be well beautiful people. And stay tuned!
